IORA and in particular the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran as the WGWEE chair, Atmospheric Science and Meteorological Research Centre (ASMERC) will host a Webinar on “Women Empowerment in Flood Forecasting Early Warning” on Tuesday, 15 November 2022 from 11:00-12:00hrs in Tehran Time (GMT+4.30), 10.30-11:30 Hrs MUT (GMT+4) via Cisco WebEx.

This webinar is to give participants a better understanding of the flood risks and flood forecasting methods as well as flood damage reduction methods based on recommendations from Word Meteorological Organization (WMO).

Due to the fact that floods affect all aspects of human life (life losses, economy, etc.), flood forecast is one of the most important and challenging issues in the fields of meteorology and hydrology. This is even more severe in countries which are potentially targets to flood, including the IORA countries. Due to their central role in families and society, women can contribute effectively in forecasting the flood, taking timely actions and decreasing the human disasters and financial damages.
Hence, in this workshop, based on Word Meteorological Organization (WMO) slogan “early warning and early action,” flood risks and flood forecasting methods as well as flood damage reduction methods will be presented and discussed.
