IORA, with reference to the Memorandum of Understanding between the Coalition for Disaster-Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), signed on April 21, 2025, announces that the CDRI is organizing a series of training webinars on the topic “Infrastructure Resilience in Island States,” as part of the “Infrastructure for Resilient Island States” (IRIS), one of the CDRI’s flagship initiatives that provides technical support on the multifaceted issues posed by infrastructure systems and promotes the resilience of infrastructure in Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to disasters and climate change.
The series will include webinars dedicated to funded IRIS projects that have been completed or will be completed this year, highlighting key milestones, lessons learned, and results achieved. The CDRI will kick off the series with Training Webinar No. 1: “Early Warning System for Multiple Hazards in the Dominican Republic,” scheduled for September 9, 2026, and hosted on DRI Connect, the CDRI’s learning and knowledge platform.
The webinars will be held once a month through March 2027 and will focus on projects in various SIDS—including Papua New Guinea, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Tonga, Vanuatu, Haiti, Dominica, Guyana, and the Maldives—to facilitate the exchange of knowledge on infrastructure resilience in the Caribbean, Indian Ocean, and Pacific regions.
The duration of each webinar will be between 60-90 minutes based on the pre-decided format and will combine presentations by the implementing partners along with reflection sessions/ panel discussions with government representatives, donors, regional experts, and local partner organizations.
