The Italy-Iora Committee will meet on 15 November. The leaders of the Committee will virtually meet to discuss next year’s program and the presence of Italy in the next IORA events. In fact, on November 17th, the IORA Council of Ministers will also see the presence of Italy with Undersecretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Manlio Di Stefano, while the day before, on the occasion of the virtual meeting dedicated to IORA employees on November 16th, Italy will be represented by Gianpaolo Neri, Focal Point IORA for Italy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The presidency of the IORA changes every two years and is chosen on the voluntary offer of the member states, it elects a president of the Association for a period of two years. In the absence of a voluntary offer, the president is elected on the basis of geographic considerations. The new IORA Council of Ministers will be the occasion for the inauguration of the Presidency of Bangladesh which will take the place of the United Arab Emirates. Bangladesh’s presidency will last from 2021 to 2023, with the new vice president, the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the UAE now assuming the post of the former president.

The next meeting of Ministers will be preceded by the 23rd CSO Meeting from 15 to 16 November 2021, to take stock of the progress of the Associations and to approve the next IORA Action Plan (2022 – 2027). The meeting on the 17th will take place in Dhaka, the capital of the state he will lead for the next two years. While the Senior Officials will be a virtual meeting.
