The first meeting of the IORA Working Group on Blue Economy (WGBE) took place on 5-6 December in Mauritius, home of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), Italy participated for the first time as dialogue partner.

The WGBE was preceded on December 4 u.s. from an official ceremony of accession of Italy to the IORA, in the presence of IORA Secretary General, Nomvuyo Nokwe. 

Secretary General Nokwe, who had taken part in the first Italy-IORA event held in Mazara del Vallo in the context of the 2018 Blue Sea Land, gave a warm welcome speech, in which she underlined the concrete and effective approach shown by institutions and Italian stakeholders from the early stages of the process that led to the Italian accession to the IORA on November 7, on the occasion of the IORA ministerial in Abu Dhabi.
