The 11th edition of the Diplomacy Festival, which took place on 19-30 October 2020, has given extensive coverage to the Italy-IORA Partnership, with three specific events:


Developing Sustainable Cruise Tourism

The first was held on October 21, a webinar on Developing Sustainable Cruise Tourism with more than 20 guest speakers involved, in which the effects of the pandemic on traveling; the need for more sustainable tourism; new skills, tools, and strategic approaches were discussed. Italian stakeholders shared their experience in the Sustainable Cruise Tourism with IORA countries and dialogue partners. 


Italy-IORA Partnership: Training and education in the maritime and coastal development sector

The event on October 22 was focused on training and education in the maritime and coastal development sector, and was attended by Andre Share (Coordinator of IORA Working Group of Blue Economy); Mario Vattani (Italian National IORA Focal Point Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation); Roberto Ugolini (Senior Expert in Fisheries, Ciheam Bari); Nino Carlino (President of the Blue Fishing and Growth District); Luigi Giannini (President Italy-IORA Committee, President of Federpesca, Vice President of the Federation of the Sea); Fabrizio Monticelli (Director ForMare – Italian Educational Agency for Shipping); Paola Vidotto (Director Italian Shipping Academy); and chaired by Domenico Pignone (Biologist and Emeritus Researcher of the National Research Council of Italy).


Italy-IORA Partnership: Food law. A new strategy for global markets after COVID-19

Another event was dedicated to “Food law. A new strategy for global markets after COVID-19 for seafood supply chain” and was held on October 26 with Assoittica Italia – National Association of Seafood Companies partnership. The speakers were Andre Siregar (Indonesian National IORA Focal Point, IORA’s Coordinator for Fisheries management); Mario Vattani (Italian National IORA Focal Point Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation); Bommakanti Rajender (Minister Agriculture, Embassy of India); Ornella Coco (Scientific Advisor Oceanis Srl); and chaired by Giuseppe Palma (Secretary-General Assoittica Italia).
