The secretariat of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) has the honor to present a webinar titled “Closing the Gender Pay Gap in the Indian Ocean Rim” which will be held on Tuesday 23 March 2021, at 11:20 – 12:00 (GMT+4 Mauritius time).

To support the IORA Action Plan for 2017-21, the Australian Government has involved UN Women to implement a three-year project on Promoting Women’s Economic Empowerment in the Indian Ocean Rim, in collaboration with the IORA Secretariat.

The project includes a series of webinars on the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), which is a set of seven principles that offer guidance to businesses on how to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace, marketplace, and community.

This upcoming webinar plays a part in this series and will cover the issues related to the obstacles to women’s economic empowerment. Closing gender pay gaps is a human rights obligation, therefore it also improves a company’s reputation, sustainability, and attractiveness to investors.

The guests of the webinar will include Julie McKay, Chief Diversity, Inclusion and Wellbeing Officer at PwC Australia, and Céline Marchal Dassonville, Vice President of UN Women France Executive Board. UN Women will also share some of the WEPs tools and resources available to support companies to close the gender pay gap.

The webinar can interest IORA government counterparts and Working Group members, current and potential WEPs signatories from the region, representatives of Chambers of Commerce, women’s business associations, NGOs, entrepreneurs, and any other individuals from the IORA Member States or Dialogue Partners.
