The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation, FEDERPESCA, an active member of the Italy-IORA Committee, will host the second webinar on skills and career development in the Blue Economy in the IORA countries.

The webinar will be held on December 22, 2020, at 9:00 (CET).

The focus will be to develop a network of blue actions in blue careers in the fisheries sector. It will be reflecting on ways to implement and create new professional figures on strategic and priority interventions for sustainable and innovative fisheries towards sustainable production and consumption in a framework of planning and economic development of the fisheries sector in IORA countries. The topics such as more sustainable fishing vessels, selective fishing gear and processes, advanced technologies, fish enterprise culture, exploitation of catch and competitiveness, methods of identification, and quantification of stocks will be covered during the discussions.

Emanuela Claudia Del Re (Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation) will deliver the opening remarks. It will be followed by Luigi Giannini‘s (President of the Italy-IORA Committee, President of Federpesca) introduction.

Speakers will be Jean-François Ferrari, Minister for Fisheries of the Republic of Seychelles; Abdillahi Bidhan Warsame, Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources of the Federal Republic of Somalia; Gatot Hari Gunawan, Director at the IORA Secretariat; Andre Siregar, Director for Intra and Inter-regional Cooperation with Asia-Pacific and Africa, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Indonesia; Alberto Pieri, Italian Ambassador to Kenya; Alberto Vecchi, Italian Ambassador to Somalia.

The panel will be coordinated and moderated by Manuela Irene Masciopinto, and the program will be as the following:
