2022 will be a full year for IORA and its Dialogue Partners. At the end of last year during the 21st Council of Ministers, after the handover to the presidency with Bangladesh which replaced the outgoing United Arab Emirates, the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) has drawn up a calendar of initiatives and events that will accompany us in 2022.

Workshops will be organized to finalize the eligibility criteria for joining the IORA. An extraordinary CSO is planned to resolve all outstanding personnel and finance issues of the Secretariat, Bangladesh in early 2022.
The third meeting of the IORA Working Group on Maritime Safety and Security (WGMSS), to be held in Sri Lanka in the first quarter of 2022. The 19th meeting of the Working Group on Trade and Investment (WGTI) will also be called, in the first half of 2022, in Australia. At the center of the IORA activity, as always, there will be the themes of the Blue Economy. For this, there will be the fourth IORA ministerial conference on the blue economy (BEC-IV), organized in Sri Lanka, also in the first half of 2022. There will certainly be B2B events with companies interested in the activities carried out in the sectors of the Blue Economy

These are just some of the most important initiatives planned by the Member States and related to the first quarter. These will probably be joined by other events organized with the dialogue partners, including Italy, that still have to be scheduled and formalized.
