Indonesia, as a Member State and Chair of the WGBE, organizes and hosts an IORA event on 22 April entitled “Marine Waste Management – Policy and Best Practices” which will be held in webinar format and aims to contribute to the implementation of the IORA Strategic Action Framework on Marine Debris in the Indian Ocean and aiming to promote regional exchange of knowledge, best practices and experiences in waste management.

The specific objectives are:

  • Improve the capacity and knowledge of IORA Member States on marine litter governance, waste management policies;
  • Facilitate the exchange of experiences, lessons learned and best practices among Member States in the management of marine litter;
  • Support the development and implementation of policies and strategies to mitigate marine debris pollution and promote sustainable ocean management.
