Italy initiated the procedure for the formal request to the IORA South African Chair for the dialogue partnership status through its Embassy in Pretoria. The IORA Secretariat will be activated by the South African Presidency, and will inform IORA Member States of the Italian request, to be hopefully approved at the next IORA Council of Ministers (COM).
We believe that a concrete and operational cooperation between Italy and the IORA will not only increase Italy’s involvement in a region where the challenges related to sustainable development and maritime safety are significant. It will also allow to reap mutual benefits that the extraordinary development of the countries of the Indian Ocean region offers companies from all the countries involved.
