Today is the 25th birthday of IORA and Italy, in its role of Dialogue-Partner represented by the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs Manlio Di Stefano, wishes IORA a happy anniversary. Here the short video message from Undersecretary Di Stefano
Luigi Giannini, President of Federpesca and President of the Italy-IORA Committee, also sent his wishes in a video in which he thanks IORA for its work in building collaborations in the fields of the blue economy.
The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) will organize an important event at the Italian Pavilion of Expo Dubai in the occasion of the Water Week. The event will take place on March 23rd and it will see the participation of representatives from IORA and the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), becoming an occasion to strengthen the synergy between Italy and IORA as well as the dialogue between IORA and UfM.
The event will consist of a one-day workshop structured in two sequential panels organized by Acquedotto Pugliese and ENR – The National Institution of Italy for Standardization Research and Promotion. The opening welcome speech will be held by Paolo Glisenti, Commissioner for Italy at Expo Dubai and Manlio Di Stefano, Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
The first Panel, organized by Acquedotto Pugliese with the collaboration of Diplomacy – Festival della Diplomazia, will be held from 11:20 am to 1:00 pm under the title “The role of sustainable water management for the wellbeing and the development of coastal communities“. The panel will include Domenico Laforgia, Chairman of Acquedotto Pugliese SpA, Salman Al Farisi, Secretary-General, IORA and Grammenos Mastrojeni, Deputy Secretary-General, Union for the Mediterranean, Leonardo Carmenati, Deputy Director, AICS – Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, Italy and it will be led by the journalist Carmen Lasorella.
The afternoon panel, organized by ENR – The National Institution of Italy for Standardization Research and Promotion, will start at 3:00 pm. The topic will be “The future of shipping: zero-emission systems to enhance future maritime operations and safeguard the oceans“. It will be moderated by Mario Dogliani, President SDG4MED and Director of the Fundacion Philippe Cousteau. Francesco Beltrame, President of ENR, will welcome guests who will talk about ZEUS, the first zero-emission boat recently launched in Italy by ENR under the supervision of FINCANTIERI. The conclusions will be entrusted to Salman Al Farisi, Grammenos Mastrojeni, and to Gianpaolo Neri, IORA Focal Point for Italy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Italy.
