Federation of the Sea (FdM), one of the Committees of the Italy-IORA platform, and the Marevivo association have signed an agreement with which they undertake to promote joint activities aimed at raising awareness of environmental protection. These educational and cultural activities will be aimed above all at schools and will try to stimulate issues such as sustainability and the protection of the sea and its resources.
The news of the signing of the memorandum of understanding was given by Mario Mattioli, the President of FdM, during the meeting (webinar) which took place last March. The virtual meeting was attended by the vice presidents Anton Francesco Albertoni (Confindustria Nautica) and Vincenzo Petrone (Assonave), the general secretary Laurence Martin, the deputy general secretaries Oliviero Giannotti (Assoporti), Marco Paifelman (Federagenti), and Marina Stella (Confindustria Nautica) and almost all the advisers. In addition to Rosalba Giugni, President of Marevivo, Aurelio De Carolis, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy, Daniele Bosio (MAECI and Italian Westmed co-presidency) and Leonardo Manzari (National Contact Hub), Mario Vattani, were invited to the meeting. DG for Globalization and Global Issues of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Fabrizio Vettosi, Managing Director VSL Club SpA Investment & Advisory, Director of Confitarma, and member of the ECSA Sustainable Ship Finance Working Group.
Everyone enthusiastically welcomed the agreement, which sees the defense and safeguarding of the sea as its primary objective by raising awareness of the issues related to it. Rosalba Giugni declared “It is important to join forces for the defense of the sea and for the dissemination of culture to safeguard our important heritage based on common rules”, speaking out for a thought that unites all the participants.
