Costa Cruises’ new flagship, “Costa Toscana”, was launched, like its sister ship “Costa Smeralda” two years ago, at the Meyer shipyard in Turku, Finland. In addition to the top management of the Italian company, including the General Manager, Mario Zanetti, and the director of Meyer Turku, Tim Meyer, H.E the Italian Ambassador to Finland, Sergio Pagano, also participated in the launch of the ship. The innovative ship of the Costa fleet represents a flagship of Made in Italy. Its characteristics are surprising. Considered a real traveling “smart city”, with 2,663 cabins it can accommodate 6,730 passengers. 337 meters long, 42 wide, 185 thousand gross tons, the ship is oriented towards environmental sustainability and therefore equipped with a series of innovations, including LNG (liquefied natural gas which represents a turning point in terms of improving performance environmental protection of cruise ships, both at sea and during stops in port, because it allows to almost completely eliminate emissions of sulfur oxides (zero emissions) and particulate matter (reduction of 95-100%), also significantly reducing oxide emissions nitrogen (a direct cut of 85%) and CO2 (reduction of up to 20%).
The made in Italy is then enhanced by the taste of the interior furnishings, design, and the use of fabrics. The name was chosen, on the other hand, reflects the general idea, Tuscan locations such as Bolgheri, Montalcino, Pienza, and Montecatini were chosen to define the public areas. Piazza del Campo, on the other hand, is used to delineate a large staircase facing the stern, on three decks, with an open balcony on the last deck whose crystal floor will make you experience the thrill of flying over the sea; while Piazza Dei Miracoli, at the bow of the ship, will be a meeting point for shopping, tasting and entertainment. Continuing the tour, you can come across the area or Sole Mio which includes a beauty salon, a hammam, a thalassotherapy pool, a sauna, 16 treatment rooms, and rooms for snow, salt, and relaxation.
