Italy is officially a candidate as the organizing country of the World Water Forum 2024. The Bel Paese has chosen Rome, Florence, and Assisi as the cities that will host the events linked to the Forum. The choice had already been made towards the end of 2021, but a few months after the final decision, the final sprint was launched. In support of the Italian candidacy, the diplomatic work of the AICS – Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development was spent. A few days ago at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs an important round table was staged which was also attended by the Head of delegation Dale Jacobson, the General Secretary of the World Water Council, Valerie Bistagne, welcomed by Minister Luigi Di Maio.
The World Water Forum is held every three years and last year it should have been held in Dakar, but due to the well-known events related to Covid, the event has been moved from 22-27 March 2022. The next will be the tenth edition and as the most important international event in the sector it obviously has among the topics of interest everything related to the most important element of the Planet, therefore among these the Blue Economy remains the most important. The next edition will have as its concept “The renaissance of water” and will deal with the theme of water resources, universal access to water, and its protection. The Italian candidacy was also supported by the Italian Promoting Committee, chaired by the Mayor of Florence, Dario Nardella, and by representatives of the Italy Water Forum.
