The Secretariat of the Indian Ocean Rim Association has the honor to inform that Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia will organize the seminar “International Relations in the Indian Ocean Region: Collaborative Study Experience” ‘ in Mauritius from 4 to 15 November 2024.

As part of the program, Australia will also launch the Indian Ocean Rim IORA University Network (UNIOR) work plan. Inolktre will begin establishing a work plan of the IORA University Network of the Indian Ocean Rim Academic Group (IORAG), on November 15, 2024. The vision of the Network is to have a dynamic regional academic platform offering higher education and research collaboration for address sustainable development and transformation priorities, build leadership and institutional capacity, and promote regional cooperation across the Indian Ocean.

Membership of the network is open to universities based in IORA member states and to dialogue partners. To ensure fairness and manageable size, membership of the network will be limited to a maximum of 3 universities per IORA Member State and 1 university per dialogue partner, in the operational phase of establishment (2024-27). A core group of nine universities led the creation of the network and will be among the founding members of UNIOR, whose network will formally begin on 1 July 2025. Founding member status will apply to universities that formally join the network by 30 June 2025.
