In the Rimini exhibition center next September, more precisely from 27 to 30, the Aquaculture sector fair will be held. one of the most important activities of the Blue Economy. Aquaculture Europe 22 will be an opportunity to concretely address the climatic problems that inevitably affect the marine ecosystem, creating problems that can be catastrophic. The scientific literature provides strong evidence that according to current trends and within 10 years, our coastal and marine environment will change due to sea acidification and warming, sea-level rise and coastal erosion and all water bodies will be affected by flooding, eutrophication and pollution, with important effects on ecosystem services, fish and shellfish stocks and food security. The event is organized by EAS (European Aquaculture Society) with the support of the Ministry of Ecological Transition and the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies (MIPAAF).
Climate change, depletion of natural resources, loss of biodiversity, food safety and security, environmental pollution and waste are major sustainability challenges for the further expansion of European aquaculture and the ambition of the Green Deal European Union and the Farm to Fork strategy. The way in which aquaculture is addressing these challenges and the solutions put in place to develop a sustainable, responsible, productive European aquaculture sector, which comes as close as possible to what is defined as circular economy and climate-neutral for the main marine and freshwater fish species, mollusks and algae are the main themes of the AE2022 event in Rimini.
