Last June 25th, Friday, Advantage.green, the marketplace promoting sustainable choices for companies and consumers, hosted the Forum “The Uncharted Waters. Global Economic Perspectives and Sustainability”, at the hotel Monaco and Grand Canal in Venice, as part of the memorandum of understanding signed with the Venice International University.

Taking place each year in a different Italian city, this 13th edition of the Forum was hosted in Venice on the occasion of the celebration of the 1600th anniversary of the foundation of the city and for its environmental vulnerability, because of the water management and the challenges of Blue economy.

The Uncharted Waters Forum was an opportunity to take stock of sustainable companies and consumption, water and global resources, economic growth and development and security, through moments of dialogue between representatives of national and international institutions, members of the economic community and academic and research experts.

Among the speakers Lorenzo Bini Smaghi, President of Société Générale, Ambassador Umberto Vattani, President of Venice International University, Pierre-André Chiappori, Columbia University, and Edoardo Borgomeo, Oxford University; Richard Damania, Global Lead Economist in the World Bank’s Water Practice; Chief Economist for Middle East and North Africa Region (MN) at the World Bank Rabah Arezki; Marco Frey, UN Compact Italia President, Andrei Shleifer, Harvard University; Maria Pierdicchi, President of Nedcommunity and independent director of Unicredit; William Wechsler, Atlantic Council Director and Cecilia Del Re, Councilor for Environment and Smart City in Florence.

The forum was divided into two sessions entirely dedicated to sustainability and the economy, with the conviction that the global challenge towards a sustainable future passes primarily through business choices: Global Economic Outlook and Perspectives and Sustainability, Environment and Global Scenario.

Among the initiatives, Francesco Confuorti, founder of Advantage.green has launched the project “Sustainable Action for Solidarity: the Uncharted Waters”, and the Advantage.green Venice International Sustainability Awards. In September, the awards will be conferred to companies and institutions that have distinguished themselves in the areas of sustainability and social commitment. This is a special opportunity to be recognized for cooperating in view of the environmental objectives set by the UN by 2030.
