The IORA Secretariat has the honor to report the decision of the 13th biennial meeting of the Committee of Senior Officials (CSO) of IORA in Sylhet, Bangladesh, 13-14 June 2023, on collaboration between the Republic of France and the Republic of Indonesia for organize a series of workshops aimed at developing the IORA guidelines on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

In the first workshop on the development of the IORA guideline was organized in Jakarta, Indonesia, from 12 to 14 September 2023 and Member States provided their input on the zero draft of the guideline drafted by the Republic of Indonesia.

As part of the IORA Guideline Development Initiative and Workshop Series, the French Republic will host the second IORA Guideline Development Workshop on IUU Fishing from 2 to 4 May 2024, in La Réunion (France). The seminar aims to discuss and review the consolidated contribution of Member States to Project Zero. Following the workshop, the drafting group, composed of experts from France and Indonesia, will formulate the first draft of the IORA Guidelines.

IORA Member States will be invited to participate in the second workshop. Dialogue partners and interested parties will be invited to participate on the first day of the workshop.
