The Rome Chamber of Commerce, with the scientific direction of Limes, will organize the Second Edition of the “Festival del Mare, Rome at the center of the Mediterranean” on 27 November 2024.
Rome and Italy have in fact always been, historically and otherwise, the centre of life in the Mediterranean Sea, thanks, above all, during the five centuries in which the Roman Empire existed, to the existence of the Port of Rome, that is, the current port of Ostia.
The objective of the Second Edition of the Festival will be, as in 2023, to recount Rome, and thus Italy, as the centre of economic vitality and not only of the Mediterranean.
As emerged in the course of the First Edition from the international research developed ad hoc, Rome is considered of central and strategic importance in the Mediterranean for most of the countries that overlook it. Therefore, with reference also to the hegemony of the Roman Empire over the Mediterranean and to the centrality of Rome and its port for centuries, the focus of the Second Edition will be to understand whether this ancient archetype can still function today and through which modalities of social and economic interaction with other countries, in order to give resonance to the importance of the role of Rome and Italy in trade and international relations in the Mare Nostrum area.
The Festival will be articulated through talks by experts and round tables. The contents of the Festival are indicated by the Chamber of Commerce of Rome, under the Scientific Direction of Limes in the person of Director Lucio Caracciolo.
During the course of the event, various experts will take turns as guests and speakers: representatives of major companies in the sector, economists, representatives of the institutions, journalists and historians.
