The last IORA COM meeting, held on May 21, the annual review of activities and future cooperation between member states and IORA dialogue partners took place.

The Italy statment expressed strong interest in the Indian Ocean region, emphasising the interconnection between the Mediterranean and Indian Ocean and the shared challenges and opportunities they face. As an active Dialogue Partner of IORA, Italy reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, sustainable development, maritime safety and security, and economic cooperation. Italy highlighted several recent initiatives aligned with IORA’s priorities, including seminars and training programs on fisheries management, aquaculture, shipping, sustainable tourism, and green technologies.

Italy concluded by affirming its dedication to enhancing cooperation between the Mediterranean and Indian Ocean regions emphasizing the shared natural resources and heritage.
