Wishing all IORA Member States and Dialogue Partners a prosperous IORA Day 2021!
Last March 7th was the 24th Anniversary of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) since its inception on 07 March 1997.
Official celebrations for IORA Day 2021 are being held virtually today, March 25th IORA, hosted by the current IORA Chair, United Arab Emirates.
Italy is an active dialogue partner of IORA since November 2019, and has been developing since then a series of activities, especially in the blue economy sector, and will be represented in these celebrations by Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs Hon. Manlio Di Stefano, who will intervene with a congratulatory message.
In the framework of this proficuous dialogue partnership, the Italy-IORA Platform (https://iora-italy.org) will also be hosting a celebration today, with contributions by the Italian Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Manlio Di Stefano, the Secretary General of IORA H.E. Gatot Gunawan, and the Secretary General of the Italy-IORA Committee, H.E. Laurence Martin.
The Italy-IORA Platform is already serving online as a catalyst to create awareness about IORA, and networking opportunities with our partners in the Indian Ocean, and today we wish to thank all Embassies of IORA Countries accredited to Rome, for their strong support of the Italian dialogue partnership with IORA, which will continue to allow joint programs in the fields of blue economy, sustainable development of coastal communities and other cross-cutting issues such as women empowerment and disaster management and prevention.
